| Jacona
de Plancarte is Loccated in the northwestern
of Michoacán, near to Sierra de Patambán,
part of the transverse axis Volcano, 1,600 meters.
It was founded by Fray Sebastián de Trasierra
in 1555, however there exist constructions and
paintings of more than 3000 years old.
Jacona was symbolization of life
and death, the symbol of humanity, and was one
of the first pre-Hispanic peoples entrusted to
the Spaniards.
Xacona was established in a region
Chichimecas (tecuexe), bordering the kingdom P'hurépecha.
Hill principal and a former ceremonial center
called Curutarán. According to research
from the College of Michoacan INAH and hence arose
the ball game P'hurépecha. Currently hosts
the Major Seminary of the Diocese.
It is the sister community of
Zamora, the town offers the rustic side for its

A picture
with history, whose miracles attributed
to his appearance is the year of 1685, when
two Indians (Juan and Mateo) to be fishing
both in the Chapala lake, removed and placed
in a canoe floating Camichin of root in
water and which appeared as a figure of
a woman with a child in the arm.
Many things happened on
their journey to Jacona who made the superior
of the Convent of San Agustín, Fray
Jerónimo Saenz and residents come
to admire the image, then the cone knew
Our Lady of the root. A tiny image topped
a February 14, 1886 as the Virgen de la
Esperanza, patron saint of the diocese.
Its original temple was
destroyed because of an earthquake, rebuilt
in the same spot a temple of modern style
with a beautiful stained glass window with
the history of the apparition.

Jacona has
two areas of the Plaza de Armas reunion

The
ancient Church of Saint Martin and
ex-Temple of San Agustin is one of
the oldest churches in the Diocese
of Zamora. This building dates from
the century XVl, it has been remodeled
several times, most recently 5 years
ago, it now looks like new on all
points and angles, from floor to ceiling
and from the gateway to the presbytery.
the architecture
of the church building is the former
Franciscan style, and the adjacent
convent now called Plancarte Antonio
College. Its architectural features
can be easily comparable to other
churches attended by Fray Jacobo Daciano
demonstrates that Franciscan influence
in the community who were also evangelized

Cistercian Monastery |

The Cistercian
Order is a religious order founded by Roberto
de Molesme in 1098. Takes its name from
the French abbey of Cîteaux where
it originated.
Arrives in Mexico in 1979
and is set to be the first Jacona Trapa
male Cistercian Monastery of the Virgin
Curutarán name that has been awarded
because of proximity to the mountain of
that name. It has a beautiful chapel and
a retreat center for people who want it.

Located in the upper Jacona,
at the foot of a hill, it is possible from
there on a veranda built to appreciate the
beauty of the valley of Zamora.

Curutarán a small mountain
in an apparent circular pyramid
that gives to Jacona part of
its identity and around it,
there is a reserve where are
located springs that give rise
to a dam which is born of the
Celio River.
In the vicinity
of the dam has built a family
entertainment center which can
be reached by car and then tour
the nearby attractions. One
is the Old Power Plant, or enjoy
a stroll through its aqueduct.

of the Canal is a long channel whose waters come
from the junction of the rivers in Camécuaro
and the Duero, passing through hills and ravines,

reservoir that supplies a flow of water to the
hydroelectric Lázaro Cárdenas is
located in the lower part of the community of
El Platanal.

archaeological remains found in the Open, which
are located as belonging to the pre-horizon (1300
BC-200 BC), clearly indicate that this place existed
during the pre-Hispanic settlements. Jacona is
one of the oldest towns in Michoacan and one of
the first that was submitted to the territorial
dominion of the feudal and tributary Tarascan. |

The causeway
that connects the cities of Zamora and Jacona

Jacona
